Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
~ Colossians 3:13 (NIV)
I was struck by the message of this verse and jotted it down in one of my old journals…
I felt blessed by the wisdom contained in its words.
But as soon as I was trying to grasp the message of forgiveness that the verse was teaching me,
I was immediately put to the test.
And all of a sudden, God’s words came to a blur…
The trial must’ve been far too challenging for me at that time…
Or maybe when examination day came,
The student in me didn’t really study her lessons well.
Or perhaps she hasn’t learned her lessons quite well… yet.
But life was a relentless teacher –
The tests never stopped coming…
And they came in different forms…
Each one a hard lesson to learn…
Enough to remind me of my own weaknesses and limitations…
Enough to teach me humility…
Enough to make me remember that I am only human…
…
To make me realize that I never really have to face them alone…
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. ~ Matthew 11:30
“I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it.” ~ Mae West
